Chandigarh - A delegation of National Federation of Indian Women had recently visited the state of Jammu and Kashmir to take present stock of the situation after the continous deadlock for around two months now .
The five members delegation has submitted an exclusive report after gathering various facts from the ground zero in which it has come in fore that it is a major attack on life and liberty of the people of J&K by abolishing Article 370.
Secretary General of the Federation Dr. Anne Raja talking in detail about the report said that the army personnel deployed in Kashmir forcibly enter the houses and rape women. The people are under so much fear that they do not lock their main gates or doors of the houses , she added. She further told If they would bolt their doors tight and the locked doors would not open in one hit by the army entering the house , they would have to bear the worst of the atrocities by the army.
She said the situation is so grave that the stored cereals and food grains, rice etc are set on fire by sprinkling petrol or diesel by the army. She further said the people are living under uncalled threat all the time as the army and central forces deployed there are arresting the boys of age bracket 10 - 20 years. The mothers are waiting for the sons with the dry eyes and they are not sure about their sons whereabouts and this number has reached to around 14 , 000 young boys , she added. She told if they visit nearby police station , district headquarters for inquiring about their sons , the authorities tell them to approach the central jail to get the information if the names of their missing boys and men are there in the list or not. Most of the boys who are being picked up from the houses have their names added in the FIRs registered under the sections of stone pelting and other acts.
Raja told that the Kashmir police has been disarmed and now either the police personnel could be seen empty handed or just carrying sticks. It was done by the centre government to avoid rebellions in the police.
Sharing more facts gathered from the ground zero , she said that all means of transportation and communication are at halt at present due to which people are suffering a lot. She said the delegation has visited 18 villages and towns of Kashmir where they found all the schools , colleges and universities closed. She said that the pregnant women have been undergoing pre mature deliveries due to depression , anxiety and fear cause of which a large number of newborns are dying. The pregnant women have to take to the hospitals by hiring private vehicles and they have to pass through six to seven check posts on the way which further deteriorates the emergency condition of the patient , she added.
The member of the delegation Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur told that the brotherhood between the people of all castes and religions of the state is intact and there had never been instances of riots on the name of religion. But now , all the Kashmiris are of the views that they should be an independent state and not the part of a country. The people of the state, unanimously, had never given such call for freedom earlier before the repealing of Article 370 , she added.
The members further told that the media of the state has also been put under complete ban as the internet and all the communication services are totally blocked. Furthermore , it is the administration that decides on which news or information to be published so the freedom and working of press has also been hampered , they told.
On the occasion , Taran Gujral who attended the seminar as a special guest said if this could be termed as independence then the partition of the country in 1947 was not needed at all.
